My pen name is John Magnet Bell. I’ve been a translator for 9 years. I am a published photographer as well. I've lived in 3 different countries so far.
How does this work?
Twice a week, I post one or two small writing prompts, 50 words or less. Let's call that a story-seed. The rest is up to you.
Take my ideas and run away with them. Go wild. They are freely given. This is an adventure in open-source storytelling.
I know I called the website “Start Your Novel,” but you can use my snippets for anything you please -- short stories, novellas, RPG settings, comics, anything. Copyright is hereby waived. If somehow you make millions off an idea you got from me, good for you. Credit would be appreciated. That’s it.
Why are you doing this?
A while ago I realized that I like to inspire others. And inspiration is hard to come by. Some of us writers are lazy and need a little push. Well, “Start Your Novel” is intended to do just that --- nudge you in the right direction. (Hopefully.)
I have tons of ideas. Why keep them all to myself?
How often do you post?
As I stated above, this blog updates twice a week — Wednesdays and Fridays. That means you get at least one brand-spanking-new story premise every Wednesday and Friday. (With the occasional bonus post on any given day. The bonus post will not be limited by the 50-word rule I defined for the regular updates.)
